Blissful 3 Days In Coorg With A Beautiful Property to Stay IN
I am a coffee lover & so a girl like me has to visit this place not only for coffee but visiting Coorg for me is more like visiting my inner self because the calmness, the quietness this place has, is just hypnotic and free from all the disturbances of the world. It seems like this place has encapsulated me within its beautiful arms wide open to welcome us. As every place has its own story, so is the coorg !
“So head towards Coorg with me to get the green therapy, sip the freshly brewed coffee and live like kodavas”
How to Reach Coorg
The distance between Coorg and Bangalore is 270 kms. The best option is to choose a car but if you prefer to go by train then there are 9 trains that run from Bangalore to Coorg everyday. I will not suggest a flight due to the long distance of Banglore Airport. The last option is you can have a scenic road trip from Bangalore to Coorg.
In my case, I travelled to Coorg from Mysore which is 112 km away. I travelled by car and let me tell you it was one of the most perfect & scenic roadtrip I ever had. Don’t forget to have a melodious collection of songs in your playlist which will make your journey even more relaxing and rythmic.
Where to stay
We had planned 3 days in Coorg. There are many exotic and luxurious homestays and villas in Coorg . Our stay was in Nysa Estate which is a luxurious pool villa situated in B Shettigeri in Kuttandi that offers a unique and homely experience with 5 large bedrooms having modern interiors with balconies facing mountains and a coffee plantation. The staff and the cook here, really steals the show with mouth watering food and menu according to your desire. The staff is very attentive and there for you 24/7. The place is child- friendly and has open space to play for kids. Even the living room is so large that kids can have a great time there. Nysa Estate stands out to be a beacon of luxury and tranquility.
Have a look at this Luxurious Stay
The Budget was around 25k per day, and villa is very spacious so i recommend you to go with your friends or family to have enriching time.
Spacious living Room
Note: The condition of roads to villa is terrible so if you are travelling with old person or a pregnant women cautious. Carry your Umbrellas and winter wears because we went in the month of june and it was both raining and cold !
Best time to visit
Best time to visit Coorg is during winter season between October to March when the weather is pleasant with cool temperatures to experience outdoor activities, sight seeing and trekking.
Dubare Elephant Camp
We planned to visit Dubare camp in the evening as we reached there in the evening from Mysoure and then we went to our property. First of all you have to wait in a long queue for the tickets so its better to book tickets online because it becomes even hectic with kids to wait and engage them. It took around two hours to get the boat across the kaveri to reach the Dubare elephant camp.
At first glance i can see, there were about hundreds of elephant spread across the field and you can wave at them, feed them, and taken to bath. I have heard somewhere you get an oppurtunity to bathe elephants but we went in the month of June, these activities were not there. Frankling speaking i can’t say ” Intezar ka fal mitha hota hai”. If you are with kids, definetely go there and kids will enjoy but i enjoyed only the boat ride to the camp.
Have a look at these cute elephants
The elephants are chained and stood under the sun for long time . But later I researched then I came to know that Dubare takes care of these elephants well since the time elephant logging was banned in India, these are under the hands of tourism.
Timing : Morning 9am to 11am , Evening : 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Note: What i felt is the major time for relishment is in winters rather than the rainy season because they have some interesting activities during winters. So do visit the month of October to december for better indulgence.
Abbey Waterfall
Next morning after having Aloo parathas for breakfast in the villa , we headed towards Abbey waterfall, a mesmerising beauty located near Madikeri which is a perfect place to visit not only for nature enthusiasts but for shutterbugs too. Nestled between coffee and spice plantations, the waterfall is opposite to the hanging bridge. The view from the hanging bridge is very attractive. Aromas of coffee and spices mingled with the refreshing coolness of air makes this experience one of a kind.
Things to Keep in Mind while visiting the fall
We just relaxed around for an hour or two and got energised with the gushing sound of water mixed with aromas filling the air greet you even before you get the view of Abbey falls. If you are visiting during monsoon, be aware of slippery steps, leeches and small insects. To reach the bottom of the fall you need to climb the stairs hence i will advice to keep your medical aid handy. For safety reasons its not allowed to take bath in the fall.
There are tea, coffee stalls nearby and you can also carry your snacks, sit there, chitchat ,eat and enjoy the view with coffee. If you are with kids then talk with them about nature and how beautiful our country iis. Let them explore freely, dont ignore their queries about the place.
Best time to visit Abbey falls and Timings
Best time to visit Abbey falls is monsoon season because the scenic grandeur of Abbey falls increases by many folds in monsoon. During Monsoon the stream of water becomes thicker with louder roar. So one can plan a visit between the months from July to october. Although visting that time you should be careful of slippery roads. Otherwise with kids you should plan post monsoon being the ideal time to visit.
Timings : 9:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Moving to Buddhist Monastery
We left for Buddhist monastery around 11am, it took around 2hrs to reach the monastery. I was awestruck to see the mesmerising beauty of the golden temple (not Amritsar)…Haha. The temples themselves are something to mull over, there paintings were competely uniue narrating stories. We stayed there for 40 mins or so but I bet if i would have gone alone, I would have stayed there for happy couple of hours staring at the paintings, deeply engrossed in the peace, meditating because the aura of the temple will oblige you to dive deep into depths of prayer.
Stunning view of Golden Temple
The Golden Temple
The monastery is known as Namdroling Nyingamapa monastery in the Bylakuppi area also happens to be the second largest Tibeten settlement in the world. There were rows of quarter type rooms with red and orange cloth hanging around the compounds of the colourful golden temple. This monastery is home to sangha comunity of more than five thousand monks and nuns and qualified teachers, a collage, home for elderly people and a hospital.
So do visit the monastery because peace of mind is rare to find now a days !!
Then we came out of the peaceful haven to embrace the bustling life outside and to satisfy our hunger .There we find Green Cardmom by club mahindra. The food, ambience everything was delightful and if you are with kids , you can have hustle free meal here !
Immersing in the Sunrise and Sunset views
Next day we set our sight on this beautiful location, fully aware that catching the sunrise might be a challenging with kids in town.Instead we decided we wouldn’t pass up the chance to enjoy breakfast prepared by Rakesh bhaiya our talented cook at the villa. His meals were always a highlight , filled with flavours that perfectly complemented our surrounding. The kids were excited ,and the thought of a delicious breakfast made the early morning journey more bearable. It was a wonderful way to start our day, and we knew the stunning views would be waiting for us later on. The service, the hospitality he gave us was just up to the mark. At night when we reached villa from Dubare, they even allowed us to cook maggi in the kitchen for kids.
Absolutely stunning View of Mandalpatti
(I agree picture can’t do the justice)
The location was Mandalpatti which was around at a distance of 57.4km. Mandalpatti is at a height of 1600m so you can think of trekking but we could not, and now you know the reason well. To go to Mandalpatti you have to go to deviating road which is 4km before Abbey valley, so the best option is to hire a jeep and enjoy the most adventurous ride of your life, let me tell you the road was terrible but we enjoyed the ride to mandalpatti with the fast & furious ride , jerks, laughs, cool & charming weather, we just had a blast during this ride to Mandalpatti.
Then you have to walk a certain distance to reach the place and believe me it was worth it. It is the most beautiful sight to behold. The place away from all the hustle, bustle and offers calmness. I were welcomed with the drops of rain showering on my face, cloudy weather, cool and gentle breeze, smoggy and misty everywhere, when i look at the mountains all i can see was dazed mountains along with huge strech of lush greenery. Ohh!! It was so mesmerizing, i just forgot everything and want to live in the moment.
Click some good pictures , sit there for sometime & feel the calmness of the place , the sky, the mountains , the nature and just soak in the beauty of Mandalpatti.
Dramaticly Posing in this spectacular view
While visiting Mandalpatti
- Euip ourself with some snacks, water bottles for yourself and kids because you wont find anything here.
- There is a deep entrenchment so be careful with kids.
- Wear shoes because walking with shoes makes it comfortable and carry umbrella & winter wears because weather changes anytime in the mountains.
Western Ghats with its rich biodiversity, Floura and Fauna
